An Addition to The Changemaker's Toolkit: Uncovering the Culture of You

I'm updating my client workbook, The Changemaker's Toolkit (formerly named the Kind Bold Badass Workbook).

I've got a new chapter I'm working on. It's something I talk about all the time in my coaching sessions but haven't written about in depth: The Culture of You.

This is simply HOW you work. How you show up. How you bridge the gap between the culture you want to exist in, and the action you take to embody it yourself.

It can be aspirational, but it can also be the things you prioritize: having lunch with coworkers, letting your team know that flexibility looks like getting to pick your kid up from school everyday, not responding to Slack messages after work hours.

People know what to expect from you because you have communicated what's important to you and what aligns with your values.

It can also be the way you collaborate and communicate with others. Do you overcommunicate to make sure everyone is on the same page? Do you give out praise and gratiutude to lets others know you value their contributions? Do you give feedback to folks in leadership when you feel like a situation could have been handled with more care?

Our internal culture, how we do things, is like an emotional GPS. We navigate situations based on the culture we want to live in, which should align with our values.

This is something my clients work to uncover about themselves so that they can take more intentional action in the workplace and lead by example. Our actions create ripple effects. It can inspire culture change.

What kind of culture do you want to inspire?
