From stuck & uncertain to clarity & confidence: one client’s unexpected success story
In a recent post-coaching client interview, N.F. from Boston shares how they came to me expecting to work on a career pivot and ended up with so much more than they expected. We accomplished most of this work in just three 60-minute sessions. Check out the magic we created for NF in my latest client interview:
L: Why did you want to work with me? What about me or my work intrigued you?
NF: I wanted to work with you because I was feeling stuck in my career. I wasn't necessarily looking to leave my job, but I knew I wasn't feeling fulfilled and couldn't clearly articulate why. What stood out to me about your approach was that you weren't trying to tell me what career I should pursue. Instead, you focused on helping me understand myself—my values, strengths, needs, and what actually energizes me. That felt much more meaningful and sustainable than simply trying to find the "right" next job.
L: What has been your favorite part of doing this work?
NF: My favorite [was] the different areas we worked on. We explored bigger topics like imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, confidence, and purpose, but every session also gave me concrete tools that I could immediately apply at work and in my personal life. I also appreciated that the workbook and exercises built on each other over time, helping me connect ideas rather than just having isolated conversations.
L: What was the biggest transformation you got? How did that impact different areas of your life?
NF: The biggest transformation was changing how I see myself at work. I realized that a lot of my anxiety and imposter syndrome wasn't coming from my current role— it was coming from experiences with previous managers that had shaped how I interpreted new situations. Once I started recognizing that, I became more comfortable with asking questions, advocating for myself, and seeing feedback as an opportunity for conversation rather than a judgment of my abilities.
I also gained a clearer understanding of what I need to thrive professionally. Instead of feeling like I just needed a different job, I now understand the kinds of work, environments, and relationships that bring out my best. That shift has made me feel more confident in my role, how I think about my job, and has reduced a lot of the uncertainty I was carrying.
L: What surprised you the most about working together?
NF: I started coaching thinking I needed to figure out a major career pivot, but instead I gained a much better understanding of myself. I left with practical tools for managing stress, building confidence, and approaching opportunities with curiosity instead of fear. Those changes have made my current job feel more manageable while also giving me a clearer direction for the future.
L: Who would you recommend my coaching to?

NF: I'd recommend you to anyone who feels stuck or uncertain about their career, especially people who know something isn't quite working but can't put their finger on why. I also think you'd be incredibly helpful for people dealing with imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, or difficulty advocating for themselves. Your coaching helped me understand that career development isn't just about finding the next job—it's about understanding yourself and building the confidence to make intentional decisions.
